Each fleece I use is from a lamb or ewe whose fleece was shorn (for her pleasure and yours) as she is alive & well, happily roaming the fields with her flock on her small family owned farm!
Whether you are looking for a fleece that is long & silky or short & curly or anything in between I have it all
Best of all, there are no harmful chemicals used, no bleaches or dyes and because I make them using natural wool roving on the back side they are soft & flexible and "breathe" keeping baby warmer in winter & cooler in the summer. They are even hand washable!
PLEASE NOTE:
Felting is a labor intensive art with each finished piece involving many hours of work - all done by hand! The end result is undeniably lovely and because of the hand made nature, you can be assured that no two pieces will ever be the same (in fact, a sheep's fleece will always grow back in with subtle differences from year to year) - thus assuring you of original and functional art!
* Prior to the actual felting process, I spend a great deal of time removing bits of bedding and vegetable matter from each fleece. You will, however, expect to find some remaining vegetable matter such as hay, straw, etc.
* My felted fleeces are entirely hand made and respond to use much differently than a tanned hide. Each fleece has its own characteristics & some will shed more than others. If you have a particular use in mind, feel free to contact me so I can do my best to assist you in selecting the most suitable fleece for your needs.
*once completed, I hand wash each fleece using an all natural plant based cleanser which is safe for the environment and restores the natural pH of the wool. They are then set out to dry under the sun.
