DESCRIPTION:
This versatile black mat is made using Cricket's wool with long locks cascading along the edges. The ebony hue is rich with a subtle intermingling of bits of field grass, light strands and mahogany nuances.
All of the wool used in the making and designing of this mat was shorn for the sheep's pleasure & yours as he is alive & well, happily roaming the fields on his small family farm.
THE PROCESS:
This flat felt is artistically made using natural, undyed, unbleached wool. Because I use fleece instead of processed fibers, the individual character & texture of the sheep's locks are artistically apparent which adds an exquisite texture and color nuances.
DECORATING IDEAS:
I've sized this mat for a wide variety of uses as such as:
*Table, kitchen island, desktop
* place across back of arm or back of your favorite chair or sofa
*add visual interest to bench, stool or ottoman
* across the foot of your bed
*layer with any of my other mats for a unique look all your own!

THE PROCESS:
Felting is a labor of love with each piece being designed & artfully crafted entirely by hand. The end result is undeniably lovely and because of the hand made nature, you can be assured that no two mats will ever be the same. In fact, they will assuredly be "imperfectly perfect" with all of the characteristics of the natural wool emerging in each carefully designed piece. That, to me, is what makes each mat such a beautiful art piece for you to both use and enjoy!
PLEASE NOTE:
The wool & locks I use is purchased directly from & supports small farms & shepherds. You will inevitably find bits of hay or wild vegetation occasionally intertwined within the felted layers which adds a unique artistic & organic quality to each hand designed piece.
