DESCRIPTION:
My felted scarves are all artistically made using natural, undyed, unbleached alpaca and sheep wool. Because I use a fleece instead of processed fibers, the individual character & texture of the locks is artistically apparent & adds an exquisite texture.
All of the wool for this scarf was shorn for the alpaca & sheep's pleasure (& yours!) as they are alive & well, happily roaming the fields on their small family farms!

Because this scarf is felted, it will feel less drapable than a knitted, crocheted, or loomed textile scarf. It is very soft, and flexible and conforms to your neck making it a conformable l addition to your wardrobe.
THE PROCESS:
Felting is a labor of love with each piece being designed & artfully crafted entirely by hand. The end result is undeniably lovely and because of the hand made nature, you can be assured that no two scarves will ever be the same. In fact, they will assuredly be "imperfectly perfect" with all of the characteristics of the natural wool emerging in each carefully designed piece. That, to me, is what makes each scarf/collar su huch a beautiful art piece for you to both use and enjoy!
FIELD GRASS ETC:
* Prior to the actual felting process, I spend a great deal of time removing bits of bedding and vegetable matter from each fleece. Afterall, these are real sheep living their best life out in their fields! Some sheep will have virtually no vegatative matter, while others will be chuck full! Therefore, you will inevitably find bits of hay or wild vegetation occasionally intertwined within the felted layers which adds a unique artistic & organic quality to each hand designed piece. These bits shows up more evidently in light & dark colored fleeces. I do my best to use only the choicest, premium locks for garments that will have the least amount of field grass as possible. CLEANSING:
* My felted fleeces are "washed" during the design process and once completed, I hand wash each fleece thoroughly using an all natural plant based cleanser which is safe for the environment and restores the natural pH of the wool. They are then set out under the sun to dry.
CARE AND MAINTANENCE:
* If necessary, your felted piece can be hand washed (or spot cleaned) in cold water with a gentle wool cleanser like Unicorn or white vinegar. The excess water can be gently squeezed out or spun in your washing machine on the gentlest cycle, then set flat to air dry. Combing or vacuuming is never recommended.
